Scent Shots!!!
I started on a quest to only buy candles and wax melts from independent chandlers. I found one chandler that I absolutely loved but she closed her store leaving me candle-less. so I purchased many candles from different people only to disappointed by what I received. Either the throw was lacking, or, the candle burned poorly leaving much of my money (wax) stuck to the sides of the glass untouched by the flame.
So being the mad scientist that I am and with the help of some very good friends, I have found the perfect formula for my Scent Shots. My first tester, shown in the pic above scented in Girl Next Door, that I started burning 3 weeks ago is still in the burner and is still smelling up my home....that's 3 weeks later! Visit the store to buy yours today!

Essie retired Cherry Pop! Now what? Part II
Back again with another color I found as I look for a suitable replacement of Essie's retired color Cherry Pop. On the nail beds of my little princess' fresh ManiQ manicure, is Beverly Hills Plum from the Beverly Hills Manicure line by Orly. This color is VERY sheer with almost no pink although from the bottle the view is really pink. I think for me, this would be great to use if I decide to use my pink acrylic as my signature acrylic for single acrylic overlays over just using regular clear. I like the first Orly color I used before Des Les Fleurs but this would be a great runner up!
Colors also shown here, picked out by my little one....taking her to CosmoProf is bad for my wallet she picked 6 colors! China Glaze, Blue Sparrow, Carribean Temptation & Flying Dragon.

Essie retired Cherry Pop! Now what?
I loved this color as a base for all of my nail art and french manicure nail bed color. It was the perfect color for just an extra bit of blush on the nail without adding too much color. I know some etailers are still carrying it but they want retail prices for it as much as $12....can you say OUCHIE??? I am not paying that much for an Essie polish, heck any nail polish for that matter.
Over the past few months I have been searching for a suitable replacement for this color. I think I have found three. The first of those is from Orly's French Manicure line. The color is called Des Fleurs. Shown here with my little one as the hand model, I think its a good one! In the bottle it has an irridescent cast to it and its a brighter blush as it is more pink than Cherry Pop, it was more red. This picture was taken 3 days after my daughter's last manicure and her ManiQ gel coat is holding her polish well.

Perfect Pedicures with ScRub Me Smooth Sugar Scrub
At the request of many of the nail technicians currently using my sugar scrub, I am listing pointers for using my scrub in your pedicure services. My clients love this scrub as it will exfoliate the feet leaving them dewy and nicely hydrated not greasy at all. And for techs, clean up is a breeze as this formula rinses away virtually clean with little to no residue behind AND it won't stain your pedicure throne!
I start my pedicure service by sanitizing the foot with a scented, alcohol based sanitizer. I will be making this in the spring of 2010 to compliment the scents in my line. Next I use my Tammy Taylor Disposable Foot File (purple grit) to breakdown rough, callused skin WHILE THE FOOT IS STILL DRY before soaking. If you skip this step, the feet will likely be rough at the end of the service no matter what you do. Using this method, I never need to use a Credo cutter nor will I ever! Once the calluses are smoothed to my liking, I then massage the foot with Creative Nail Design's Cuticle Remover/Callus Softener and put the client's foot in the spa for a complete 10 minute soak using my own foot soak of course....no cheating! After doing the polish removal, cuticle work and nail shaping, I then dry the foot a bit and massage the foot with the sugar scrub. While the scrub is still on the foot, at this point the crystals should have dissolved, I then go back over the callused areas with my Tammy Taylor Foot File (purple grit, she does now sell a finer grit). This will completely smooth all the rough areas leaving your clients feet smooth as a baby's bottom! Follow up with my body butter for the massage portion of your service. It has excellent slip quality and you won't need to get more mid way through your service....don't you hate it when that happens? Apply polish as you normally would and viola.....the perfectly pedicured foot!
As soon as I figure out this camera, I will do a tutorial on youtube for this and many of my other products. If you have any additional questions, email me or leave them here.

Tips for winter time nail care
Are you suffering from dry, cracked cuticles? Wintertime is very harsh to the cuticles. Moisture is important in helping you achieve healthy cuticles. Healthy cuticles make your hands look nicer and who need the pain of a hangnail or broken cuticle?
A quality moisturizer, such as my body butter, used throughout the day will help with dry skin. And using a cuticle oil at night before bed daily will provide your cuticles the moist
ure and nutrients they crave. When choosing a cuticle oil, look on the label and make sure that the first oil is not mineral or lanolin oils. You want your first oil to be sunflower, sweet almond, safflower or shea oil.

To my loyal customers....a big thank you!!!
Scentful Indulgence started as a partnership. In the beginning, it was a wonderful partnership. Formulating was and is still my favorite part which has now turned into a passion. A passion and a drive to bring to you the best ingredients to pamper the lifes of my clients is the reason that I can't get any sleep at night (story for another blog entry ;P). The collaboration between my partner and I was amzing....but we all know partnerships a can weaken and sour quickly.
Our once flourishing partnership hit a deep tail spin. I had no idea that I would be able to keep Scentful Indulgence afloat all by myself. I mean, it was a brand new baby and barely walking yet. I spent many sleepless nights trying to figure out how to make this thing work....formulating, changing, adding....it seemed like I would never be able to do this.
And then a sales, growth spurt if you will, hit me and it was like I suddenly had this group of cheerleaders...my customers. On the very days that I wanted to throw in the towel, were the days I woke to multiple orders. Almost as if some of you were reading my mind and saying, "Oh no sister, you cannot give up on us now!"
So I give you all my word, I haven't given up on any of you. This sole proprietorship is taking some getting used to but thanks to the support of my loyal customers, you have made it impossible for me to even think about giving up. And, you didn't even know that you did!
Thanks so very much to you all for holding me up when all I wanted to do is fold up and fall down. There will be lots of new things coming down the pike for Scentful Indulgence Bath and Body Boutique, so keep your eyes on this blog for all the updates.
A sneak peak of what's to come:
July 1~The Boutique Body Oils will be replaced with convenient Roll-On applicator bottles.
July 1~I will be adding Lotion Bars to the line up.
July 1~Everything But the Kitchen Sink Soap will debut in more scents and shapes.

What would you do?
Since Mother's Day has just passed (my Mom died in 2004) and Father's Day is approaching, I thought I'd ask my blog followers this question. Let's say you weren't speaking to your Dad because of a misunderstanding (on his part not mine), would you still acknowledge him for Father's Day? He is my only parent now and I feel kinda bad about us not being on the best of terms right now, but it truly is not my fault. So you were in my shoes, would you at least send a card, leave a message on his phone (although he claims he doesn't get them)? Or, do you just continue to wait until he comes to his senses and starts communicating again? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. ;)

What's in your moisturizer?
I challenge all that are reading this bulletin to do one thing. Pick up your favorite lotion or body butter and read the list of ingredients. More often than not, commercially made skin care lotions and body butters have one of the following as the largest amount of oil in the formulation.....Lanolin, Mineral Oil or Petroleum.
Lanolin is a wax derivative of sheep's wool which can cause allergies and be comodegenic (pore clogging).
Mineral Oil & Petroleum are generally skin protectants. both of these products, byproducts of petroleum/crude oil production, leave a film on the surface layer of the skin, which can lead to clogged pores.
Some of you may have heard some old schooler's tell you the best way to soften your feet is to use Petroleum Jelly and put socks on your feet before you go to sleep. And yes it works--but only on the surface! The best way to soften your skin is with non-comodegenic oils that will penetrate the skin. Softening the surface is only putting a bandaid on the real problem. Not to mention it's messy! The path to beautiful, well hydrated skin is to get beneath the skin's surface with natural penatrating oils and butters.
Our Shea Souffle Lotion & Body Butter will NEVER contain any of these products! Homemade skin care is on the rise.....visit our store and see why there's nothing better than homemade.

Best of Bath & Body Poll~WE'RE IN...VOTE FOR US!!!
I can hardly believe this but our Pink Sugah! Bubbly Bath Powder has made it into The Storque's Best of Bath & Body Poll! I can hardly contain myself. We recently reformulated this product to make it more softening and moisturizing with the addition of Jojoba Oil and a special milk blend.
At times when I first started this back in November 2008, I often thought, "what did I get myself into." Only because things were moving so slowly for us online. But through hard work LOTS of networking, and most importantly, my awesome client base, we are growing pretty quickly. I am just thrilled beyond words....thanks to everyone! Now go vote.....

Introduction....
~*:*~~*:*~~*:*~~*:*~~*:*~~*:*~~*:*~~*:*~~*:*~~*:*~~*:*~~*:*~~*:
About 4 years ago, I attempted to make my own body butter....if you want to call it a body butter. It was a complete disaster! I saw other people making it and figured, I could do this myself, it cannot be that hard. How wrong I was. The need for a good moisturizer is a necessity. I have diabetes and it seems the older I get, the drier my skin gets.
After a few more not so successful attempts, I found a fellow nail technician who made her own bath and body products. At that point, I was spending about $100 per month on bath and body products in the big chain stores. I started buying butters from Jennie after purchasing two others that cost a whopping $85 each...OUCH! They were expensive yes but they felt heavenly. Jennie's was really close. I bought one of her butters for my dbf and he was hooked, too.
One day while chatting online, Jennie tells me with all the money you spend in shipping this stuff, you could be making your own. That was about 2 years ago...and the rest is history.

With the guidance of my online friend and about 4 years total experimenting and testing, I feel that we have come up with a line that is of spa quality without the price tag....
